Why diets don't work.
There are a huge number of diets, new ones every year, but people continue to suffer from nutrition-related problems. The main problem is that the diet is done for some time, then the person returns to his usual diet and the effect fades away. They say that you don’t need to go on diets, but change your lifestyle.

I would like to draw an analogy with cleansing practices. You can cleanse the body for a while, but then also pollute it with improper nutrition.
The only exception, in my opinion, is rinsing the nasopharynx, since it is difficult for us to control the surrounding air. And what to eat and drink, in my opinion, we can choose.

On the other hand, our body has natural cleansing mechanisms, and if you stop polluting it beyond measure, it will cleanse itself.
In naturopathy they say that a healthy person is one whose purification processes prevail over the processes of pollution.
But, cleansing practices can give impetus to switching to a healthier lifestyle. For example, there is an opinion that the composition of our microbiota influences the desire to eat one or another product. As an opportunity to start from scratch.
But it seems to me that the psychological aspect is much more important. Make a firm decision, for example, not to drink beer. So as not to doubt and suffer (to drink or not to drink, or maybe a small mug), but how to cut it off. Then there will be no tossing around and trying to come to an agreement with yourself that one bottle is okay, it’s not very harmful, I even read that it’s useful. And doubts and attempts at self-deception take up a lot of energy. Well, without going to extremes, set a deadline, but if in three years you decide that this is still a useful and necessary product, and not a harmful addiction, that is, the freedom to change your mind.
