01. MY THREE POSITIVES.
1. Vacation is starting.
2. Nature is waking up after winter, the birds are chirping.
3. I soldered myself a new keyboard – for wrist health.
02. MY THOUGHTS AND DISCOVERIES.
I was reading a book about clip-based thinking and the dangers of gadgets. This topic has come up more than once. I'd already given up on Instagram, shorts, and so on, but now I realize how I'd slipped back into it.
You go to YouTube to watch something useful, usually complex, and then they offer shorts with a funny story or something engaging, etc. But I know how it works, I think not. First, you need to watch the complex stuff, work, and then, as a reward, you can watch something entertaining. I'll train my brain like a dog: work hard, get a treat. And it worked for a while, but then it began to shift unnoticeably toward: I'm tired, let's rest. But you can get tired without doing anything useful.
I read about clip-based thinking again and realize I've slipped back into mindless consumption of this content. I periodically find myself in a vicious cycle where I don't really enjoy it, but I constantly switch to the next video, hoping to enjoy it, and then the next, and so on. And the dopamine is already spent and doesn't rise.
But it's as if something blocks my awareness of this fixation until something specifically redirects my attention to it.
Tracking my time, how much and what I did during the day, and an external reminder helps.
I stopped watching clips, as if I'd woken up from a stupor.
Oh, if only I could channel this energy in the right direction. It's like learning through play, you get stuck in your shorts and quietly learn something.
