Winter, cold, say, -20.
At work, I went outside for five minutes, periodically. In pants and a shirt on my naked body, without outerwear. And it seemed like I immediately felt the cold, but it didn’t particularly bother me, since I knew that it would only be for 5 minutes, I wouldn’t have time to freeze. And it was perceived normally, except that my skin “burned” a little.
Leaving work, I dressed warmly, a scarf, gloves, etc. and I froze as soon as I went outside, only later warming up while moving. What’s the difference? In the first case, I knew it would only last for 5 minutes, in the second, it would last for about an hour and a half, until I got home.

Here I thought that something was wrong.

It's cold, frozen, I'm going to the sauna. Just knowing that I'll soon be in the heat makes me feel warmer.

Probably the body reacts to temperature with stress. But knowledge can dull this reaction or eliminate it altogether.

It can be dangerous to block the reaction to stress, without it you can get too cold, but somehow it turns out that the right attitude can warm you up better than warm clothes. At least for a while.
