A long time ago, I became acquainted with such a concept as a local maximum and I periodically recall it in the context of yoga.
A little theory - there is a certain graph, say, infinite and on it the line goes up and down. We can see only a small section of this graph. And we want to get a larger value.
The graph can show anything - a signal from an antenna, income level, degree of self-development.

The problem is that we see a small piece of the graph, say, we are moving to the right, there is growth, so we should go there, to the left there is a decrease - we will not go there. There we get to the maximum point from which both to the left and to the right there is a decrease. And in order to get a value greater than in this maximum, we must first go down.
It's good if you know in advance that if you go to the right, you'll suffer a decline for some time, and then there will be growth and it will be more than now. But if you don't know, then there is a risk of losing the maximum that you already have.
If you apply it to life, then, as a rule, to rise up you need to make an effort - to climb up a hill, and you can fall down without effort, and it's even hard to stop. This is how proverbs appear, like: a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

What about self-development? While there is an opportunity to grow, the task is clear, but having reached a certain maximum, it is possible to rise higher only by first descending. To move to the next maximum, you have to clearly lower your standard of living, that very exit from the comfort zone?
But this was a linear graph, where you can only go right or left, and if you can choose a direction for all 360 degrees - and this will only be a plane. In 3D there is also a top and a bottom, like in that story about the diver, you can get stuck at any level. Considering the number of directions, you begin to especially appreciate the importance of teachers.

I did not abandon my studies during the vacation. Usually, after a vacation, it is difficult to move your brain, but, as it turns out, if you combine a vacation with studying anatomy, it does not have time to switch off.

06. PERSONAL PRACTICE OF YOGA IN A WEEK.*
6 days, Hatha and Kriya 1-2 hours a day

07. DIFFICULTIES IN LEARNING.*
It is difficult to spend vacation hours on learning. And you seem to understand that this is more useful than swimming or sunbathing, but you can study at other times, and vacation is only sometimes.
