01. MY THREE POSITIVES.
1. The thrill of solving a complex problem.
2. A lecture on weekdays, and hopefully a kriya on Saturday.
3. Push-ups.
02. MY THOUGHTS AND DISCOVERIES.
And we defy boredom,
Because, because,
To live in this world without surprises
Is impossible for anyone.
Let successes, let failures,
Let flights up and down,
Only this way, and not otherwise,
Only this way, and not otherwise,
Long live surprise!
I read a story by Robert Sheckley about how a man was granted the fulfillment of any wish. It seemed great, you could easily get what you've long wanted, but the man was getting worse and worse. Eventually, he fell into depression and only emerged by finding something to do himself, rather than fulfilling desires.
Yoga says that our higher selves are omnipotent, which is defined as the fulfillment of desires even before they're fully formed. Imagine, before you've even had a chance to wish, everything already exists. And yet, you're in a state of constant bliss.
In theory, this disrupts the usual motivational system of doing something and receiving something in return. For example, people find pleasure in deliberately creating obstacles for themselves and overcoming them—like going on a hike on broken skis.
I read that the Japanese, with their cars loaded with electronics, specifically buy our UAZ loaf just to tinker, feel in control, and create something with their own hands.
A telling example is retirees: it would seem they have plenty of free time, don't have to go to work, and can live for their own pleasure. But often, those who haven't found a purpose quickly degenerate and die. And do higher selves manifest in our world to limit their omnipotence and gain motivation?
If they decide this for themselves. But what if it's the Absolute, which has divided itself into these higher selves? Again, it has deliberately limited its own potential, placing each self in a cage of maya that must be overcome.
