02. MY REFLECTIONS AND DISCOVERIES.
I often experience this calm, even emotional state when I'm alone and have nothing interesting to do. Perhaps even a little skewed toward sadness. No joy, no grief, a kind of neutrality, a grayness.
But as soon as I start communicating with someone, something appears. Especially with new and significant people. They trigger something in me. At the very least, behavioral roles. With my wife, I'm a husband, with my children, a father, with my boss, a subordinate, with subordinates, a boss, etc. And then emotions often awaken. There are certain expectations of interactions, and they may or may not be fulfilled, and this triggers emotions, with a strength dependent on the degree of attachment.
And then, like the standard American smile—an indicator of success—you begin to squeeze something more out of yourself. Here I am, all positive, we'll overcome everything, we can do anything, etc. And it's not that this is a lie; you're not just feigning success, but, as Stanislavsky puts it, you feel successful and radiate it.
Perhaps this is how the limbic system works, for survival in society?
And the best part is, with prolonged exposure, you become immersed in it and become more successful.
For example, when doing yoga in a gym, I'm able to fine-tune my posture better, do more, and be stronger than I could alone.
It becomes a tool for influencing yourself. Over time, in one group of people, it dulls, but if you go to another group, where people don't yet know you, it works again.
