Could a higher self emerge in artificial intelligence?

Our body is quite complex, especially the brain.
It’s not so difficult to make manipulators, legs, a body, using different principles, without self-medication, a piece of hardware, a joint, a motor and sensors.
Making a system that will “think” how to manage them is much more difficult. The same Boston Dynamics admitted that their robots are controlled by people, but I think some of the reactions/programs are already embedded in the software.
It’s more difficult with the brain, especially with mental activity, especially with awareness - at least it seems so to me.
But what if we increase the computer resource to the complexity of the human brain, build it the same size, in terms of the number of neurons and synapses, will it be able to reason like a person? Or will there be a lack of something that can be called a soul?
On the other hand, it seems like the higher self manifests itself in any living thing (not living - inhibited), and modern computers are already more complex than some creatures.
And if the goal is to gain experience and the computer in the future will surpass the human brain, then it will be more profitable, faster, more to gain experience through the computer brain? Plus the ability to upgrade hardware.
Are our bodies the same robots with a computer in their heads, but with biological components?
