Keep children away from the TV?

01. MY THREE POSITIVES.
1. I added a metal halide lamp to my interior for winter sun exposure. I'm waiting to see if it has an effect.
2. I'm applying the cramming method that worked with axioms to learning English mantras of consciousness—it's working.
3. I bought shoe covers for walks in the woods.

02. MY THOUGHTS AND DISCOVERIES.

I was wondering whether it's worth banning children from watching all sorts of nonsense on TV, YouTube, playing video games, etc.
On the one hand, all this information influences the child, instills certain values, instills ideas, and much of this information seems inappropriate.
It makes sense to turn off this flow, prohibit it, block it. But here's the problem: making this decision for a child is the forbidden fruit effect, where the child stops fitting into their social group of friends, schoolmates, and so on.
You can throw the television out of your apartment, but you can't throw the TV viewers out of your circle.
Starting at a certain age, these prohibitions stop working; the child will start doing everything the opposite of what their parents say (it's like a stage of growing up), and much later, conscious choices will come.
Another disadvantage: a child raised in a sheltered environment may not be ready for the real world and freedom of choice. It's like growing something in a greenhouse and then throwing it out on the street. Or how easily people who historically didn't have alcohol become alcoholics.
It seems like a good idea to be friends with the child, explaining things to them, showing them by example, but the flood of information from other sources can be overwhelming.
The ideal option is for the child to understand the value and harm of what they watch, and to be able to make the right choice (one that aligns with the parent's choice?). In my experience, it's better to be satiated and give up than to be under-received and crave.
